MARILYN NONKEN, recently heralded as "a pianist from music's leading edge" (NY Times) and named "Best of 2000" by the Boston Globe, has emerged as one of the most gifted young performers of new music. Her performances have been presented by Carnegie Hall, IRCAM, Merkin Hall, the Guggenheim Museum, the Krannert Center, Miller Theatre, Harvard and Brandeis Universities, the Flea Theatre, Dartmouth College, and the Musikakademie Rheinsberg. Among the composers she has commissioned are Milton Babbitt, Jason Eckardt, Michael Finnissy, Jeff Nichols, and David Rakowski. She has recorded for Koch, New World Records, Lovely Music, and CRI with forthcoming releases on Metier and Mode. Most recently she commissioned new works from Mario Davidovsky and Tristan Murail.
